Patrick Potter strives to create a visual narrative with his photography. As a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area, Patrick often focuses his photography on New Orleans and the surrounding areas, drawing inspiration from the vibrance and beauty of the architecture and nature scenes that he finds there, while applying his vision and artistic interpretation to photographs of the scenes. Patrick uses his photography to capture the spirit, mood, and mystery of New Orleans (many of which can only be found there).
Patrick uses his creativity and unique photographic editing techniques, through the combination of High Dynamic Range and/or Infrared photography techniques, to showcase beautiful scenes.
HDR is a technique where multiple exposures (some lighter and some darker) of the same scene are combined to provide a more dramatic effect that is appealing to the eye. By converting one of his camera bodies to solely capture infrared light, Patrick is able to capture the light that cannot be seen by the human eye. Patrick strives to give the artwork a more dramatic end result, which often leads to a surreal yet realistic feel with vibrant colors and enhanced details.
While initially focusing his photography primarily on the New Orleans area, Patrick is constantly striving to find new and exciting scenes to photograph and has expanded his photographic horizons and now looks to capture scenes throughout the United States. Click here to see his Portfolio.
